According to industry statistics, in the first half of 2020, China added 6.32 million kilowatts of new wind power capacity connected to the grid nationwide, including 5.26 million kilowatts of onshore wind power and 1.06 million kilowatts of offshore wind power. As of the end of June, the country’s cumulative installed wind power capacity reached 217 million kilowatts, with 210 million kilowatts from onshore wind farms and 6.99 million kilowatts from offshore wind projects. In terms of the distribution of new installations, the majority were concentrated in five provinces and regions: Shanxi, Hebei, Xinjiang, Shandong, and Ningxia, contributing 710,000 kW, 650,000 kW, 500,000 kW, 490,000 kW, and 400,000 kW, respectively. Meanwhile, wind power generation during the first half of the year totaled 237.9 billion kilowatt-hours.

In terms of the distribution of new installations, the majority were concentrated in five provinces and regions: Shanxi, Hebei, Xinjiang, Shandong, and Ningxia, accounting for 710,000 kW, 650,000 kW, 500,000 kW, 490,000 kW, and 400,000 kW, respectively. During the first half of the year, wind power generation totaled 237.9 billion kilowatt-hours, representing a year-on-year increase of 10.9%. Meanwhile, the average utilization hours for wind power across the country stood at 1,123 hours, with the highest figures recorded in Yunnan (1,736 hours), Sichuan (1,488 hours), and Guangxi (1,414 hours).
